Schuler cre­ates cal­cu­la­tions and offers for a wide vari­ety of machines and sys­tems in var­i­ous busi­ness areas. The offers range from prod­uct vari­ants to indi­vid­ual large-scale sys­tems for auto­mo­bile man­u­fac­tur­ers. Cal­cu­la­tions are made with the help of reusable com­po­nents. These are stored in so-called libraries and are adapt­ed to indi­vid­ual require­ments. Before cal­cIT, Schuler used a self-devel­oped tool and Excel solu­tions for cal­cu­la­tions. These tools were no longer suf­fi­cient for Schuler’s require­ments. There­fore, a new, con­sis­tent solu­tion with cen­tral data stor­age should be found.

First, Schuler Group Gmb­H’s cal­cu­la­tion scheme was mapped with­in the cal­cIT soft­ware in coor­di­na­tion with the com­pa­ny. Par­tic­u­lar­ly impor­tant was the pre­sen­ta­tion of cross-com­pa­ny projects, such as par­tial and sub-deliv­er­ies, with­in the Schuler Group. By intro­duc­ing appro­pri­ate trans­fer rules, the com­pa­ny was now able to com­bine indi­vid­ual cal­cu­la­tions into com­plex, large-scale glob­al projects.

Some require­ments have been imple­ment­ed specif­i­cal­ly for Schuler. This includes the map­ping of glob­al inter­com­pa­ny process­es and group-wide col­lab­o­ra­tion, the price cal­cu­la­tion for quotes based on pre­vi­ous­ly quot­ed sys­tems, with respect to infla­tion­ary fac­tors, and the map­ping of con­fig­u­ra­tion tem­plates and print tem­plates for inte­grat­ed quo­ta­tion cre­ation for stan­dard machines.
