The group has sales of around 3.5 bil­lion euros and almost 14,200 employ­ees. KUKA is one of the world’s lead­ing providers of automa­tion solu­tions, with suc­cess across many cus­tomer projects.

The project

The cal­cIT cal­cu­la­tion and quo­ta­tion project kicked off with clear require­ments detailed spec­i­fi­ca­tions, which solid­i­fied a stan­dard cal­cIT solu­tion.

INITIAL SITUATION

Before devel­op­ing and intro­duc­ing cal­cIT, KUKA AG used an in-house cal­cu­la­tion tool. It was hard-cod­ed and changes required con­sid­er­able devel­op­ment effort. For this rea­son, a low-code sys­tem was select­ed to alle­vi­ate the daunt­ing main­ta­nence tasks.

Require­ment spec­i­fi­ca­tions were sub­mit­ted and the goal of the abilis team was to devel­op a stan­dard solu­tion based on these needs. The solu­tion need­ed to be indus­try-inde­pen­dent and flex­i­ble. With cal­cIT, abilis devel­oped an extreme­ly agile solu­tion that made it pos­si­ble to han­dle indi­vid­ual and com­plex require­ments.

KUKA now ben­e­fits from exten­sive and flex­i­ble cal­cu­la­tions, a clear autho­riza­tion con­cept, price split­ting, Excel and Word add-ins for doc­u­ment out­put, import options with map­ping integri­ty, and much more! Because it is web-based and mul­ti­lin­gual, the tool can be used any­where and world­wide. Work­ing in simul­ta­ne­ous­ly in the sys­tem is also no prob­lem!
